Christmas Message

This year has very much been one of ups and downs for everyone.

However, a big positive has been that we were able to finish the year with a grading! Congratulations to all those that were promoted and also to all students, just remember your next grading is never far away, whatever grade you are.

I look forward to getting back to normality with our training next year, but if we are required to maintain some sort of safety, we will of course comply.

I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Stay safe, I look forward to seeing you all next year.

Visit to Manchester GB Taekwondo Centre

Whether you are from ITF or WT we are all able to make our own choices in how we train.

Today I had the honour of supporting one of our students from Authentic Taekwon-Do, who made it to the Fighting Chance Phase 1 assessment to test their abilities and desire to make it in the Olympic sport of Taekwondo, at the Manchester GB Taekwondo Centre. To make it this far was a great achievement in itself, as GB Taekwondo have received more applications this year than ever before.

GB Taekwondo deserves a pat on the back, for the professional way in which this assessment was carried out. All staff were professional and polite. Whether you were from WT, ITF or Kickboxing, the candidates were treated in the same manner and made to feel that the day was all about them.

Congratulations Poppy, this was one small step, or should I say, ‘kick’ on a much larger adventure!

We also made new friends throughout the day, which is always good on a personal and also an educational level!

Taekwon to everyone

In the near future we hope to be able to return to training,  but we will need your help. There are some things you can do to make it easier

✅Please use the Hand Sanitiser which will be available before and after training.

✅ Please ensure that you go to the toilet before you come to class, this is to minimise the need to leave the hall while at training.

✅ Your instructor will not be assisting you with putting your belt on, so ensure you know how to put on your own belt.

✅ Please ensure your water bottle has your name on it. Any bottles left in the room will be disposed of after class.

✅ No coats or bags to brought into the hall.

✅ Please be prepared to leave your child at the dojang door.

✅ Ensure your child can put their own shoes on.

If you have any concerns please contact your Instructor and speak to them direct.

Thank you

COVID-19 CONCERNS – UPDATE – Authentic Takwon-Do

************IMPORTANT UPDATE**************

COVID-19 CONCERNS – UPDATE – Authentic Takwon-Do

To all Students and Parents

Due to the recent advice from the UK Government around non-essential contact and journeys, we have made the very hard decision to suspend all Taekwon Do classes at Kegworth School and Sutton Bonington Village Hall, until such time this unprecedented phase passes.

It is difficult to say how long this closure will take place, as things are changing on a daily basis, we will try our best to keep you informed of any changes that apply to our training sessions.

With regards to the grading, which was planned for 29th March 2020, this is now also postponed until later in the year. A date will be announced once we have a better understanding of when things will be returning to normal.

Please take the time to continue to practise and if any student, or parent, would like advice, please feel free to contact me directly and we can then arrange a video lesson.

From all at Authentic Taekwon-Do, please stay safe and take care.

CovID-19 Information

Authentic TKD (Kegworth and Sutton Bonington classes) – CovID-19 Information.

We are in no way panicking about the Coronavirus, nor do we wish to raise alarm. However, we do feel that we should take it seriously and plan to protect students and their families to the best of our ability.

We have, for now, stopped the sharing of hand pads where germs may spread between student to student more easily. All of the equipment is wiped down regularly and we will minimise the spread of any germs the best we can.

We strongly recommend that if you are feeling at all unwell that you refrain from training where you may spread any illness to others. We would also remind everyone that hand washing facilities are available in the toilet areas at both Kegworth and Sutton Bonington and can be used by everyone if you should need to wash your hands during your visit.

In the unlikely event the government does suggest a “lock-down” type plan, we will close the classes temporarily.

Closing for 2 weeks due to CovID-19 should that become a need would mean classes paid for, which you were unable to attend will be managed in the following way.

Every student would receive a FREE grading from Authentic TKD, so at their next coloured belt grading, it would be totally FREE of charge.

Catch up lessons can also be arranged.

Further updates will be added as and when necessary.

Thank you for taking the time to read the notice.

ITFHQ Umpires Course 22nd/23rd February 2020

6 members of Authentic Taekwon-Do travelled to the ITF HQ Umpires Course over the weekend, in Galway Ireland hoisted by Master Fitzgibben ITFHQ Ireland. The course was a great success and very informative, everyone was approachable to discuss the course requirement. This weekend has shown how great the ITF HQ family are and how like minded people can work together, which can only be for the good of Taekwon-Do. I look forward to more ITF HQ events in the future. Thank you to Master Fitzgibbon, Sabum Chonaola and Sabum Kaczmarek for a well run course. Looking forward to meeting you all again in the near future.

Kegworth Class

There will be no training at Kegworth School on Tuesday 17th February 2020, as it is half term and the school have no-one available to open up. Please note that you can attend the Sutton Bonington class on either Weds 18th or Thurs 19th February instead.
